Do it yourself ~ Blackberry Infused Vodka

Well you all know by now that I love Vodka…

And who doesn’t like blackberries right?

The other day after Bill and I picked bucket fulls of blackberries, well I picked a bucket full, he only got a 1/2 bucket, apparently I can out pick him…nuff said.

Anyways, I digress…his buddy on Facebook said we should make blackberry infused Vodka, and then use the blackberries that were left over on our toast. Now I don’t know about the getting hammered before work while eating toast thing, I am pretty sure that would be frowned on, but the infused Vodka idea sure works for me.

So I googled.

I found a recipe.

Easy peasy.

Seriously it took me all of about 2 minutes to do, now I have to wait for a week for it to infuse.

Here is what you do…

You will need one mason jar with lid, I used a 1 litre jar.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups or so of fresh cleaned blackberries (I added blueberries to mine, cause I am a rebel, and I have tons of them this year)
  • Enough Vodka to fill the jar to the top (I used about half of a 26′er, maybe a little more)
  • Patience

Take the berries and put them in the bottom of the jar, I squished mine down. At this point you can sprinkle the berries with some sugar if you would like, it speeds up the infusion process and deepens the flavor. I passed on the sugar as I don’t want it to be sweet.

Take your bottle and seal tightly, store either in the refrigerator or at room temperature, keep out of direct sunlight.

Let infuse for at least a week.

Serve over ice or mix with Tonic or Club Soda or even lemonade for a refreshing summer drink!!

And look!!! You did it yourself!!!

That cocktail looks so enticing. It makes me want  to take an early morning nip, but that would be bad right? Or would it?  Hmmm …
